Lori is a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) with the Canadian Massage and Manual Osteopathic Therapists Association.  She graduated with honours from MH Vicars School of Massage Therapy 2200 hour program in Edmonton.  She comes from a career of customer service so listening to your concerns and focusing on how she can help you is key to her success.  Her own personal experience with working in a high stress environment with postural dysfunction from computer work and the relief massage brought her is what influenced her decision to become a massage therapist.

Lori has successfully treated many conditions like Frozen Shoulder, Whiplash, Tennis/Golfers elbow, and Piriformis Syndrome.  She loves a good mystery of why something may hurt and can give insight into soft tissue dysfunction in the body.    Many of Lori's repeat clients suffer from chronic ailments like fibromyalgia, repetitive strain and arthritis.  She strives to reduce pain and increase function.

Lori combines general Swedish Massage techniques with myofascial release, trigger point therapy, deep tissue work and silicone cupping to get you the best results from your massage.  She also provides strength and stretching exercises to help you on your path to recovery and well being.

SERVICES
Swedish Massage

This form of massage is the most common.   It uses a system of long gliding strokes, kneading, and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of muscles, generally in the direction of blood flow toward the heart, and sometimes combined with active and passive movements of the joints. It is used to promote general relaxation, improve circulation and range of motion, and relieve muscle tension.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue work is used to release chronic patterns of muscular tension.  The therapist uses slow strokes, direct pressure, or friction directed across the grain of the muscles. It is applied with greater pressure and to deeper layers of muscle than Swedish, which is why it is called deep tissue and is effective for chronic muscular tension.

Myofascial Release
Prenatal / Postnatal Massage

This type of massage shares many of the same techniques as Swedish massage but it is done with safe and effective techniques that focuses on the special needs of the client before or after birth.  Prenatal and Postnatal massage offers a natural, safe, drug-free alternative choice for pain relief. It can help with low back pain, foot soreness, and promote relaxation.

Focuses on engaging and releasing the myofascial tissue or fascia that is restricted.   This technique is often done in conjunction with Swedish Massage and is excellent for relaxing contracted muscles and improving blood and lymphatic circulation.

Silicone Cupping

Soft, silicone cups physically create a vacuum on a person's skin, or reverse pressure away from the body which pulls up on tight, deep soft tissues.  This process then releases any stagnant blood and allows lymph to flow freely.  Cupping promotes healing and detoxification.

Induction Massage

Induction massage combines a prenatal massage with acupressure techniques.  It is a non-evasive, safe, drug free alternative to help increase the hormones in the body that are responsibly for starting the labour process.  This type of massage can be done safely 39 weeks or later into your pregnancy and can help prepare your body for delivery.
